EaRTH ROCK

I happen to live on an island made up of some of the oldest rocks in the world - 4 billion years or so. And I also happen to live down the hill from this amazing science centre, which is dug down into exposed 550 million year-old rock. It is stunning.

I volunteer here once or twice a week, teaching kids about earth sciences and outer space. They've become some of my favorite hours of the week. Volunteering rocks! Hee hee.

EARTH ROLL

I'm a member of the 709 Derby Girls - Newfoundland's First Roller Derby League! In 2011 I was awarded the title of team MVP during our first public bout. Not for points scored - but for resilience and sportspersonship. It was one of the best moments of my life. I love rolling with the 709 girls. It's a rough sport, yes. But in the words of astronaut Julie Payette: "Risk? Secondary."
